First of all, what’s in a name?! Whatever you like to call these babies, it doesn’t matter, I absolutely love them! Second, I can’t believe I still don’t have a pair of these in my wardrobe. I’ve been loving and eyeing this overall thing for ages now. Not just a short term trend but a proven keeper. Not to self: Must change this gap in my closet and buy a perfect pair of overalls asap.
Tip for petites: The overall is actually a great piece for petites. It creates height because the pants also cover a large part of your upper body. This way you can’t tell where your legs end and for petites that’s a good thing. So, remember: wearing an overall is a perfect way to fool the eye and create some extra inches.

What do the Olsen twins, Miroslava Duma, Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker and Rooney Mara all have in common? Exactly, they’re all famous and known for their exquisite petite style. I bet you didn’t even guess some of them were in fact petite. Today we start this new blog series with the Olsen twins.
Today we take a closer look at the style of the first petite ladies in this list and show you, how you can rock their looks. My favorite celebrity style has been the one from the Olsen twins for years now, like many others I’m obsessed with their looks. Except for their way-too-oversized-look-like-a-bum-era, I wish to copy almost every single outfit that they wear.
Tip for petites: The Olsen sisters wear everything they like. They don’t care to much for petite dressing rules (except for monochrome dressing in black perhaps) or the opinion of others about what they wear. For example you see them a lot in oversized dressing, they wear more flats than heeled shoes and they carry huge accessories. You can see that they fully accept their petiteness and that looks equally cool and confident. If that’s not a great example for us petites, I don’t know what is.
It isn’t called a signature look for nothing. The reason why the Olsens look so fabulous and spot on every time you see them, is because they have their staple pieces that are so typical for their style. Let me break it down for you.
Black, black, black and also more black.
Check their outfits of the last couple of years and you’ll notice how black is a constant factor in their dressing. Sometimes they vary things up by wearing other colors like white, grey, nudes, dark shades in green or blue or earthly tones. You will hardly ever spot them wearing bold colors. The secret in how to be original in such casual colors is by wearing different types of materials.
Life-size (and expensive) accessories
Huge handbags and enormous shades are kind of their trademark.
High end brand basics
What makes their basic and casual outfits look so damn cool is that almost everything they wear is high quality. A basic white tee they wear, is not just a 5$ top from H&M. No, it’s Alexander Wang or something in that price range. Same is for all the pretty blazers, jeans, loafers and other cool stuff they wear. Perhaps save up and invest in some classic basic pieces is an idea to achieve a sophisticated look like the Olsen sisters.
Casual chic layering
They always seem to have just thrown something on and when that’s done, just added one or two extra layers. Preferably something long or oversized like a big scarf or a long blazer or cardigan. They finish their look with multiple pieces of modest jewelry and natural hairstyles and make up.

You like current trends or you don’t and you follow them or not. Some trends are more suitable for petites than others. In this post we tell you which current Fall and Winter trends are perfect for petites.

1. Stay warm in fluffy coats
They’re back and I couldn’t be more happier. For petites this trend is something you should be a little careful with. Having a slim and tiny body shape you easily get lost in a bulky coat like this. My tip for you is to buy your fluffy piece in either a petite or kids size. These are a little less long and fit your body shape a lot better.
Shop faux fur coats
2. Elevate to extreme heights with platforms
Platformed boots are hard to miss this season. Every big store has a great selection to choose from. And how convenient, these are the perfect set of boots for us petites as they instantly lift you inches higher.
At first I thought these kind of boots are way too bulky for my body shape, but I changed my mind and now I really like them. If they end not too high above your ankles they can also really make your legs look more slim and longer.

3. Go monochrome in all white
We have been major fans of the all black outfit for years, there’s no denying that. This season we see lots of all white looks too, on the streets, the catwalk and in stores. This is perfect for petites as an outfit in one color from head to toe creates the illusion of a vertical line and this means extra inches that are in fact not there. In other words you look way taller.
Shop all white
4. Tiny bags for tiny ladies
If you’re petite and you didn’t know yet. It’s a good idea to loose the big handbags. A smaller version goes way better with your length. Good for us that a lot of designers bring out their most fabulous bags in a smaller version.
